5/02/08: Foil has announced a new game mod, "BreakOut"! From his announcement post on Planet Descent:
"Listen up, folks... there is a new Descent3 gametype around the corner!
After a year or so of on-again/off-again work, I have finally finished a preliminary version of a new game mode for Descent3, called "BreakOut", and I'm going to be releasing a Beta-test version to the public this Sunday, April 6th!
Sounds like a lot of fun!
10/8/07: The Descent Guides Project Forum is open for business!
9/28/07: CliftonJ, better known as D2 Junkie, has completed his article entitled "Descent 101". It's a well written synopsis of the history of the Descent series, check it out!
9/25/07: Diedel, also known as karx11erx, has announced the opening of a new forum dedicated to D2X-XL. From his post on Planet Descent: "Thanks to the gifted Zombie999, D2X-XL finally has its own dedicated forum! Head over to www.descent2.de/forum/ and register if you're into D2X-XL."
5/8/08: Ok, I got a little carried away, and completely re-wrote the skin for DescentiaPedia. I also added an extended footer, with recent changes, comments and some other stats showing, and linked to the relevant pages even! I've started writing a new skin for Descent Guides Project Forum too. I have a forum set up on my own machine, running under EasyPhp. That way I can develop the code, test for bugs, then upload it all when it's ready. Prepare For Descent's home page will also get a matching skin, too. Please let me know what you think of the new look!
Now all the links that were broken by the upgrade have been fixed. (note, there is one page that has links to images that were on another server, that server seems to have gone down, and I don't have the images to replace them. So that is out of my control.)
4/13/08: Last night I upgraded DescentiaPedia to the latest version of WikkaWiki, and I created a new skin! There is still some work to do on the skin, but first I have to fix the veritable minefield of broken links the upgrade has caused. This is because the 'File' mod I had installed is not compatible with the new version. I don't know yet if I can re-write the mod. I am not sure if I will even try, but for now if you have Descent related files you would like me to host, e-mail them to me, WillyP 'AT' prepare4descent 'dot' net. In the meantime, please be patient with the broken links and I will fix them as soon as I can!
10/19/07: Verify Your Mine has now been updated to the new format, and moved to it's new location. Please let me know if there are any broken links as a result!
10/16/07: Updated a couple of links on this page.
10/14/07: Updated Setting Up D3Edit and Quicktest. It also got moved to a new location. Please let me know if there are any broken links as a result!
9/30/07: Following some discussion on PD, there are now two versions of Descent Levels in Chronological Order.
9/29/07: Converted CliftonJ's "Descent 101" page to html.
9/28/07: Added the date this page last modified to the nav-bar button. Other minor tweaks, still updating the markup to pass validation.
9/25/07: Tonight I finished converting the links page, and started adding links that I collected on DescentiaPedia. Still a few more to add, but it's getting late, and I'm going to upload what I've got done now.
9/23/07: Now there's a slide-show instead of a background image, on the home page only. There are ninety-one images, shown in a random order. I've tested this in W/XP versions of Firefox, IE 6 and 7, Opera, and Safari. The slide-show uses JavaScript, so if you want to disable the slide-show, you can disable JavaScript. The script for the slideshow is from Dynamic Drive. Check them out, they have tons of scripts and stuff for your site! They also helped out with a few other things as well, such as some CSS examples that worked much better than what I had written. Anyway, I still have a lot of work left to do. So far, in addition to this page, the 'Home' page and 'Descent Levels in Chronological Order' are completed. more or less, anyway, I am sure I will have to do some tweaking here and there... Oh, and Don't forget to refresh your browser to see the changes! I've been using my wifes lappy to test in IE6, and I have had to purge the cache to see changes. Under 'Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files'.
9/15/07: Well, I wasn't satisfied with the changes of 8/13. For one thing, I could not validate the page because with a doctype the Java-Scripted menus would not work. So I trashed the whole thing and started over with a clean slate. I looked at a lot of different ideas for drop-down menus using Java-Script, but in the end I decided to go with a very simple set of links, styled using CSS only! Not that I have anything against Java-Script, mind you. I will most likely continue using the Bravenet free hit counter, which uses Java-Script.
8/13/07: What started as a project to move style to a separate file turned into a major overhaul, as you can see. All of the element positioning and borders is done via an external css file, I've tested in the latest, WinXP versions of Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer. Still needs work to accommodate IE users... no surprise. For now, just this page and the home page are changed.
8/11/07: Minor changes to this page. WIP: moving style to separate css file.
6/3/07: Another update to the Links Page. If you know of any that I've missed, please add them to the Links Discussion Page at DescentiaPedia.
3/11/07: Added 'comments' link to each page. Clicking on the comments link will open a page in Descentiapedia where you can add your comments relevant to the page you linked from. And I also changed the links in the menu buttons that had previously pointed to a 404 page. Now, they point to DescentiaPedia pages. Please help by adding your knowledge to DescentiaPedia!
3/11/07: Added more links to the Links Page (Do you know any I missed?)
2/7/07: DescentiaPedia is now open for business! A wikki site, dedicated to Descent. Would you like to learn more about Descent? Do you have Descent related material to share? Registration is free, and allows you to make your own DescentiaPedia home page. Write about your favorite game and help others learn about Descent. Upload files such as videos, screenshots, etc...
